About the event

As a masculine embodied/presenting individual I’ve struggled with the concept of masculinity for so long. As a child the only representation I had of masculinity was an absent father & an abusive step-father. Masculinity for me was thus defined by it’s aggression and absent-ness. In my early adulthood I set out to re-define it for myself: what it is to be a healthy and balanced representation of masculinity. But I ran into wall after wall, it just never felt authentic no matter which way I approached it. In my 30’s I finally started cultivating the awareness & language of queer-ness finally finding the words to describe my inner experience. This gave me space to explore the meaning of masculinity more objectively without feeling the responsibility to align myself with any of my discoveries. Still, I remain curious.

Recently after a mini instagram-story dissertation on my avoidant relationship with masculinity my friend Dragon was telling me about his similar experience with trying to nail it down and define its workings within himself and also his unique experience of attending an indigenous mens circle and how it opened his eyes to a broader understanding beyond the western colonial landscape of belief. His story intrigued me and also brought to mind how some of the most inspiring masculine figures in my life have been trans men and trans-masculine folks.

This curiosity compeled me to host a group that caters to all masculine-identifying, presenting & curious folks with the hope of sharing our stories and relationship to masculinity in order to broaden our perspective of it and perhaps integrate new ideas into our exploration/practice of it. So if this calls to you, come through: Trans-masculine humans, Trans men, Masculine Women, Masculine presenting folk, Non-binary folk, cis-men! Let’s tell our stories and explore these concepts in a safe and supportive space!

This is an outdoor mask optional event.
